St. Louis was selected to be the host city at next year's ASAE Annual Conference - the big annual meeting for, you guessed it, meeting planners. And a big meeting for St Louis to host. So to get as many attendees as possible to this big meeting in St. Louis, we took direct aim at the attendees of this year's annual meeting in Washington D.C., with a fully integrated campaign that was impossible to ignore.
Enter, The Meeting Guru... The self-proclaimed, breakthrough author of his self-titled book, and definitive authority on planning a successful meeting. He promoted his new (sold out) book and drove meeting planners to visit TheMeetingGuru.com where they could buy his book (if not sold out), register for next year's ASAE conference in St. Louis, and get schooled on how to plan the perfect meeting... in St. Louis, of course.
Attendance for the conference in St. Louis that year hit an ASAE record high. So yeah, you could say it was a good meeting.
PHASE II
The success at ASAE gave us good reason to keep the Guru going. Next up was another big meeting - the Meeting Planners International (MPI) Annual Conference. Armed with a lengthy email list of engaged meeting planners, we revamped the campaign assets to target MPI attendees, and added a fresh new series of emails and targeted OLV's to the mix.
